Hunter Valley disability service provider The Mai-Wel Group has launched with the help of CIBIS International. Many other sites remain inaccessible to people with disability.

Web and mobile specialists CIBIS International developed the new-look website for Mai-Wel, which complies with Australian Government web content accessibility guidelines.

Mai-Wel CEO, Pennie Kearney was delighted to introduce the new Mai-Wel website.

"Along with meeting the organisation’s obligations, the new site offers full accessibility to people with a disability, innovative design and inclusive functionality".

"I thank CIBIS International for their hard work on the development of the new and refreshed Mai-Wel website. It offers an easy to use, vibrant and informative experience for our website visitors.".

CIBIS General Manager Anthony Heitmeyer said the redeveloped site now caters to a broader range of people.

"Meeting accessibility guidelines can be challenging. The internet is not one-size-fits-all, and neither are its users."

Mr Heitmeyer said all businesses should be looking at their web content accessibility.

"Around 18% of Australians are understood to have a disability. Why would you shun 18% of your potential customers?" Anthony Heitmeyer, CIBIS International.

"For people with visual impairments, learning difficulties, cognitive and mobility limitations, there can be dozens of barriers behind every page. Like everyone else, people with disability are increasingly accessing the web with mobile devices so each site has to be accessible for mobile too".

"The new design uses high colour contrast for people with vision impairments, is keyboard accessible for cognitive and motor skill limitations and is screen-reader friendly," Mr Heitmeyer said.

The Mai-Wel site is optimised for all devices.
